IPL Auction 2023: BCCI Not Happy With IPL Franchises' Investment In Overseas Leagues: Reports

The majority of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have reportedly upset the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) by entering the international T20 league market.
The franchise owners have taken a proactive role in extending their global framework. In both the future International League T20 and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), three franchises presently have a team (ILT20).

The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) apparently is not happy with the On the other side, Indian franchise owners submitted the winning bids for all six of the freshly established SA20 franchises.
According to a Cricbuzz report, BCCI expressed their disapproval of the franchise owners’ international endeavors, which they worry may diminish the worth of their league.

A club representative who was in attendance at the meeting before the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi said: “That was the point. They tried to discourage them from participating in foreign leagues. They understood those who are already there. But they tried to dissuade us from taking such steps in the future. They were suggesting that our presence in foreign leagues could dilute the value of the IPL”
The BCCI does not always have the authority to overrule the franchises’ overseas venture:
The cash-rich league’s brand has spread throughout the overseas leagues. While the globe has seen the Tringbago Knight Riders, Barbados Royals, and St.Lucia Kings, a big wave of expansion will begin in early 2023 with the start of the ILT20 and SA20.
Arun Dhumal, noting that the BCCI does not always have the authority to overrule the franchises’ overseas ventures, stated:
“Not at all. Other boards are free to form their own leagues. However, we have seen that the IPL is well ahead. Several of them (franchise owners) are involved in other leagues. They must protect their commercial interests. We are powerless to stop them. They have money in their kitty, so they can do whatever they want.”
