The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) bought KS Bharat for 1.2 Crores in the IPL Auction 2023. The right-handed batter earlier was a part of Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2022 where he played 2 matches and scored 8 runs. In the 2021 edition, the batter was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where he scored 191 runs in 8 matches.
The batter needs to work on his striking ability as the batter has a strike rate of 122. 09. KS Bharat has been a force to reckon with in the domestic circuit as he is someone who could play the role of anchor and play a significant knock for the team.
Anil Kumble On KS Bharat
Anil Kumble was having an interaction with Jio Cinema and was asked about KS Bharat. “Gujarat Titans have done well – Odean Smith for 50 lakhs, Kane Williamson at the base price of 2 cr, Bharat at 1.2 cr and Mavi as well. I have heard some good words coming from Rahul Dravid on someone like Bharat and it’s really nice that someone like him has had the opportunity,” said Anil Kumble.
“We spoke about getting a wicket-keeper batter, not as a replacement but as a backup for Wriddhiman Saha and Mathew Wade and I think Bharat fits that bill and it’s wonderful to see him be part of Gujarat Titans,” he added.
Conundrum for GT
Gujarat Titans (GT) has got happy headaches as they have got a lot of openers present in the form of Wade, Saha & Bharat. It would be interesting to see whether GT back Wriddhiman Saha to the opener’s slot as the batter scored 317 runs in 11 matches in the 2022 edition.
The defending champions GT would be well aware of the fact that defending a title won’t be easy by any means as only CSK had done that too way back in 2011. The speedster Shivam Mavi could prove to be the lightning spark for the team as he has got raw pace which can dismantle the opponent.
