Wriddhiman Saha may not be as efficient at the top of the order in the IPL 2023 as he was in the last edition of the competition, according to Aakash Chopra, who believes the Gujarat Titans (GT) need to strengthen their batting unit.
Saha is one of 18 players that the Titans have kept after the mini-auction that will take place on December 23 in Kochi.
With a budget of 19.25 crore, the defending champions may purchase up to seven players.

Aakash Chopra Not Sure If Wriddhiman Saha Can Repeat Last Year’s Heroics For Gujarat Titans
In a video posted on his YouTube account, Chopra discussed the Gujarat Titans’ potential action plan. He chose their insufficiency in batting depth as a place for development, citing:
“The playing XI is almost like last year. I see slightly less depth in the batting. Saha did very well last year but will Saha be able to do that well every year? That’s a big question because he has not been playing competitive cricket regularly for a long time.”
The Gujarat Titans’ decision to keep Matthew Wade but allow Rahmanullah Gurbaz to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) caught the former Indian opener off guard for the following reasons:
“I am a little surprised that they retained Matthew Wade and let Gurbaz go because Gurbaz is a T20 journeyman at the moment. He is someone who is everywhere. So they could have probably kept him with them.”
Wade had a miserable IPL 2022, scoring just 157 runs in 10 innings at a pitiful average of 15.70 and a similarly pitiful strike rate of 113.76. Jason Roy’s successor, Gurbaz, was unable to participate in a game for the team.
Aakash Chopra Feels Gujarat Titans Can Think About Harry Brooks
Chopra believes Harry Brook may be an international batsman the Gujarat Titans are interested in signing but was doubtful if Kane Williamson would be a good fit, noting:
“They can think about Harry Brook if they like him. Kane Williamson is available but will he fit in their team? I don’t know. It is a slightly defensive batting lineup, in any case, if you leave aside David Miller.”
The well-known analyst believes the Ahmedabad-based team’s batting lineup lacks potency, explaining:
“Hardik Pandya also gives himself time at the start at No. 4 these days. Shubman Gill is also not your big striker. So who is the big striker? You won’t say Abhinav Manohar is the one. Rahul Tewatia – striker, but bats too low.”
Rilee Rossouw, Heinrich Klaasen, and Reeza Hendricks were among of the other hitters Chopra mentioned that the Gujarat Titans would be interested in signing. He continued by saying that while Hardik Pandya’s team would like to sign one of Cameron Green, Sam Curran, or Ben Stokes, they most likely won’t have the funds to do so.
