IPL Auction 2023: "They've Got The Bases Covered, They Were Stronger, And I Think They Got Even More Stronger This Season" - Wasim Jaffer On Gujrat Titans

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini auction was held in Kochi on Friday, with 10 franchises. A total of 80 players have been bought, but teams have to spend Rs. 167 crore. All other franchises in the 10-team league have met their quota of 25 players except the Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings.

The defending champion Gujarat Titans made smart purchases at the mini-auction to improve their squad. The Hardik Pandya-led team’s purchases include Shivam Mavi (Rs 6 crore), KS Bharat (Rs 1.2 crore) and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (Rs 2 crore). The Titans will play league games in their home stadium for the first time in 2023.

Gujrat Titans Were Top Pick For Me In Auction – Stuart Binny

Former Indian cricketer Stuart Binny believes that Gujarat Tithams have become stronger after the auction. Binny stated that he was really happy with the picks of the defending champions.

“I’m really, really happy what they have. It excites me to see what they’ve got in their squad. I feel like these teams already knew what they had, but they tried to try to make it stronger by getting these guys in Mavi, and just to make the team stronger. And I think they were the top pick for me in the auction,” Stuart Binny remarked on espncricinfo.

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer believes that the Gujarat Titans have covered their bases. He said that they became even stronger this season after the auction. Jaffer said, “I think they’ve got the bases covered. They were stronger, and I think they got, even more, stronger this season. So pretty good auction for them.”

Gujarat Titans Picked Up Some Very Smart Buys – Tom Moody

Former Sunrisers head coach Tom Moody believes that the Gujarat Titans did well in the auction. He added that they have made smart purchases and are now stronger than last year.

“Yeah, I agree. I think they had an excellent auction picked up some very smart buys and it’s only made them better than what they were last year so we probably all thought they were gonna come in the last year and they probably ended up you know, we all thinking they got to be in the top two this year and it’d be the other way around,” Tom Moody said.
