Gujarat Titans (GT) would be over the moon after thrashing Mumbai Indians (MI) and winning the match with a huge margin of 55 runs. GT now are all set to take on the mighty Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 29th April (*Saturday). Hardik Pandya would be aware of the fact that a couple of more wins would take GT close to the playoffs. Hardik Pandya can be seen guiding the bowlers in the crunch moments of the match.
KKR are languishing at 8th position in the points table with 5 defeats from 7 matches. The side hasn’t been able to perform according to their credentials since beating GT when the destructive left-handed batter Rinku Singh played a blinder of a knock.
GT on the other side doesn’t seem to have any significant weakness in their team. It looks unlikely that the swashbuckling left-handed batter Matthew Wade will get a game as the likes of Shubman Gill & David Miller are dictating the terms.
Hardik Pandya’s captaincy was very salient- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra was having an interaction with Jio Cinema and was quite impressed with Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. Aakash Chopra pointed out that Hardik introduced spinners at the right time and stated that Hardik’s decision to bowl out Noor Ahmad before the 18th over was a good one.
“It’s hard to win a match from a defensive position, we’ve seen this in the TATA IPL. The point about captaincy was very salient. The game started with fast bowlers bowling quite often with discipline due to the movement of the ball. Soon after, spinners were introduced at the right time,” said Aakash Chopra.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
“They made an error last game in judging the dew and brought Noor at the end and Hetmyer punished him. He learned from that and ensured Noor’s overs were done earlier. Rashid and Noor, two spinners with five wickets, and Hardik’s captaincy just seems to keep improving,” he added.
Mohit Sharma never disappoints – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra lauded Hardik Pandya’s captaincy to give the last over to Mohit Sharma despite Mohit Sharma wasn’t at his best. Aakash Chopra praised Mohit Sharma and Noor Ahmad for their brilliant death bowling.
“Mohit wasn’t playing well but he still sent him to bowl the final over and take crucial wickets even though he could’ve done that himself as a captain. He changed Mohit’s day from bad to good to maintain his confidence. I think Hardik Pandya as a captain is growing and maturing,” said Aakash Chopra.
“Mohit Sharma never ever disappoints, that’s why he’s the Purple floppy holder currently. 2/27 off his four and well backed up by Noor Ahmed. Beautiful bowling, bowling in tandem. Like fast bowlers, even spinners need to hunt in packs,” he added.
