Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth slammed Rohit Sharma during the match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). Mumbai Indians lost the match by six wickets against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, May 6.

Rohit Sharma has been going through a torrid run with the bat in the IPL 2023. The Mumbai skipper scored only 184 runs in 10 innings with a dismal average of 18.4 and a strike rate of 126.90 this season. The right-handed batter managed to score only one half-century. He came in at No. 3 in the batting order against the Chennai Super Kings.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed for zero runs by Deepak Chahar while trying to play lap shot. The CSK skipper Dhoni stood close to the stumps to prevent Rohit from stepping out of the crease. After his dismissal, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who was on the commentary panel, said that he would not include Rohit Sharma in the playing XI if he were the captain of the Mumbai Indians.

“Rohit Sharma should change his name to ‘NO HIT SHARMA’, I will not even play him in XI if I was Captain of MI,” Srikkanth said.

The five-time IPL champions managed to score 139 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. The young batter Nehal Wadhera shone with the bat, scoring 64 runs in 51 balls. Matheesha Pathirana picked up three wickets for just 15 runs in his four-over spell.
