Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stand-in captain Virat Kohli has been sanctioned for maintaining a slow overrate during the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, April 23. Virat Kohli was handed a Rs 24 lakh fine as it was his second offence in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Virat Kohli guided the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a 7-run win over the Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling encounter. The 34-year-old didn’t contribute with the bat as he was dismissed for first ball duck in the bowling of Trent Boult. However, he rotated his bowlers, in the end, to restrict the opposition to 182 runs while defending a par total of 190 runs.
The IPL released an official press note on the official statement, stating that Virat Kohli was fined Rs 24 lakh for maintaining a slow overrate. The statement added that it was the team’s second offence and the players in the playing XI, including the impact substitute have been slapped with a fine.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Kohli has been fined Rs. 24 lakh and each member of the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, is fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is lesser,” it further said.
