In the latest developments heading into the Indian Premier League, five-time champions Mumbai Indians have announced the arrival of pacer Sandeep Warrier at his base price of INR 50 Lakhs as he replaces premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah who has been ruled out of the tournament due to his back injury.

Sandeep Warrier has an impressive track record with over 200 matches in the domestic circuit, including 69 T20 games, and has taken a total of 362 wickets across formats so far in his career. He made his debut for India in 2021 and demonstrated his skills and ability to perform at the highest level. Sandeep is scheduled to join the Mumbai Indians squad before their opening match of the IPL 2023 season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Jasprit Bumrah has been out with a back injury for a while now and BCCI does not wish to rush the player’s return as they did earlier during the T20 World Cup. Mumbai Indians have been hit hard with the news as this is the second time in a row when the team miss one out of their two premier pacers, as the 2022 edition of the tournament saw them miss out on the services of Jofra Archer, while the ongoing season will see the team miss out on Jasprit Bumrah this time around.

While there were some rumours surrounding Green’s participation heading into the tournament, the franchise will be happy with the player’s availability for the marquee event.

Mumbai Indians will start off their campaign as they face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening fixture in the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The team will be looking for a fresh start and hope that they start things off with a win.
