RCB vs MI: Watch - RCB Suffer Huge Injury Blow As Reece Topley Walks Off The Field After Suffering Shoulder Injury

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s solid start with the ball in the ongoing IPL 2023 match against Mumbai Indians has turned a bit sour after their fast-bowler Reece Topley suffered a shoulder injury.

The Bengaluru-based outfit had signed up Reece Topley in the mini-auction in December for Rs 1.90 crore after his impressive displays in white-ball cricket. He was highly impressive with the ball when India toured England last year. The 6-foot-7-inch fast bowler’s ability to swing the ball both ways and his variations make him a prized asset in white-ball cricket, especially in T20s.

And he began the ongoing game on a solid note too. After conceding three boundaries, he announced his arrival in style by castling Cameron Green with an absolute beauty. It was a full bowl that swung in sharply and Green had absolutely no answer to it.

Reece Topley suffers shoulder injury:

The joy of making a good start in his maiden IPL game did not last long for Reece Topley though as he had to walk off the field after suffering a shoulder injury. He suffered the injury during the 8th over of the innings. After Tilak Varma flicked Karn Sharma’s delivery towards fine leg, Reece Topley tried to stop the ball with a sliding effort after running in from backward square leg.

And while he managed to stop the ball by putting in the dive, he ended up injuring his shoulder in the process. He landed awkwardly on his right shoulder and looked in pain straightaway before walking off the field.

RCB will be desperately hoping that the injury is not a serious one and Reece Topley has not suffered a shoulder dislocation. They have already suffered two big injury blows even before the start of the tournament. Their English allrounder Will Jacks was ruled out of IPL 2023 and has been replaced by Michael Bracewell. Josh Hazlewood and Rajat Patidar are also currently on the sidelines with injuries.
