Shimron Hetmyer’s poor run in the recent games of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) continued on Thursday (April 27) as he failed to deliver against Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The southpaw had started his campaign in IPL 2023 in a brilliant manner as he played the role of the finisher to perfection. In the first five games of the season, the Rajasthan Royals star registered scores of 22*, 36, 39*, 30* and 56*.

However, his form has taken a dip since that unbeaten fifty against reigning IPL champions Gujarat Titans last week. He came into the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings after registering scores of 2 and 3 in his last two games. And his poor run continued against the Chennai-based outfit too.

Maheesh Theekshana ends Shimron Hetmyer’s knock:
Shimron Hetmyer once again struggled to play the big shots. The stage was set for him to guide the Royals to a big score. He walked out to bat in the 14th over when the Royals were on 125 for 2. He, however, failed to live up to the expectations.

The West Indies star managed to score only 8 runs off the first 9 balls he faced before Maheesh Theekshana ended his knock. On the first ball of the 17th over, the Sri Lankan spinner made the left-handed batsman chop one onto the stumps. Theekshana bowled a quicker delivery just outside off and Hetmyer wanted to cut it. However, there was no room to cut and he ended up dragging it back on to the stumps.

Talking about the game, the Royals were on 195 for 5 in the 20th over at the time of writing this report. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with the bat, scoring 77 off just 43 balls to lead his team’s charge with the bat. Dhruv Jurel has also played a crucial knock of 34 runs from 15 balls.
