RR vs SRH: Shaun Pollock Left Surprised By Rajasthan Royals' Tactics Against Gujarat Titans

Cricketer-turned-commentator Shaun Pollock has expressed his disbelief regarding Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson’s tactics against Gujarat Titans (GT).

In the most recent match that both sides played on May 5, RR were humiliated at their home ground of Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, being bowled out for a measly 118. Then, the Titans chased the target down with 37 balls to spare, winning the match by nine wickets.

It wasn’t much better with the bat, only taking a wicket on the pitch where RR themselves were bowled out shows GT’s complete dominance over the match.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, former South Africa cricketer Shaun Pollock said that left a little confused by how Sanju Samson used his bowlers.

I was a little bit surprised by some of the tactics employed there. After 1-2 overs, you realized that it wasn’t really swinging. So, they were late to get to the spinners to look if maybe if they could have had an impact, was a little bit of a surprise,” he said.

Shaun Pollock claims the pitch had nothing to do with RRs’ batting collapse against GT

Shaun Pollock also claimed that it wasn’t the pitch that was the reason for Rajasthan Royals’ poor outing with the bat, and it was just a batting collapse.

RR never looked like forming any partnerships against GT, with wickets falling too regularly. Sanju Samson was the highest run-scorer for his side with 30-off-20.

Speaking about that innings, Shaun Pollock said –

“There wasn’t much on the surface, it is got to be disappointing to be bowled out for 118. The ease with which they reached 119 just shows that it was a batting meltdown rather than anything to do with the conditions.”

Shaun Pollock admitted that it was a comprehensive victory for the Gujarat-based franchise.

Having lost four matches in a row, RR’s playoff chances are now in jeopardy. They would be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next match on May 7.
