Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered a thumping victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). RR won the match by a massive margin of 72 runs & announced their arrival at the Tata IPL 2023. SRH stand-in skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar was taken to the cleaners. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 36 runs in his 3 overs where he looked quite scratchy.

SRH were rocked early as they lost 3 wickets in the power-play overs. The England star batter Harry Brook looked clueless against both pacers & spinners as he scored 13 runs in 21 balls & struck 1 four. SRH head coach Brian Lara would be in a state of shock as there was no intent shown by SRH batters.

RR line up had the intent from the word go where after being asked to bat first, Jos Buttler unleashed the attack and smashed a turbulent half-century. RR skipper Sanju Samson took calculative risks when he & Yashasvi Jaiswal struck half-centuries where there was carnage.

The addition of Jason Holder has done wonders for the RR team as he not only took a wicket but contained the batters with his impeccable lines & lengths. It won’t be wrong to say that the finalists of IPL 2022 (*RR) are a team to beat because they have got a lot of match winners in the team.

We did not bowl pretty well – Bhuvneshwar Kumar

During the post-match presentation, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was asked about the team’s performance.

“100 per cent we can say that, let’s forget and move on, the way we pulled back in the last 6 overs and Umran’s cameo at the end. We did not bowl pretty well, first match of the season and a lot to improve,” said Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

“South Africans are coming back and we definitely will be a much better batting side, we have to move forward from this game. It was a pretty good track, we can prepare what we want but we are not worried about that,” he added.
