Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu cleared the air on his comments about Rohit Sharma moving to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that he expressed his wish to see that happen and didn’t confirm anything.
Ambati Rayudu recently hogged the headlines for the comments that he made on Rohit Sharma. The former Mumbai Indians player expressed his desire to see the India captain playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL after MS Dhoni retires from the league.
Ambati Rayudu said that Rohit Sharma still has 5-6 years of cricket left in him and he should end his career by playing for Chennai Super Kings. There have been a lot of speculations about that too because of the way Mumbai Indians treated Rohit Sharma as a captain of the team.
Rohit Sharma, who guided Mumbai Indians to the five IPL titles, was removed as the captain of the team. The franchise handed the leadership to Hardik Pandya, who was traded ahead of the season. This didn’t go well with many as they lashed out at the franchise.
Rohit Sharma made Mumbai Indians a force to reckon with in the league. He took the leadership of the team in 2013 and made sure that he took the team to the title win in the very first season that he captained.
After that, Rohit Sharma didn’t look back as he took Mumbai Indians to great heights. He led the team to four more title wins and became the most successful leader in the league before he was joined by MS Dhoni, who won the fifth title for CSK last year.
The upcoming edition of the IPL will see Rohit Sharma playing as a proper player in the league. He has been extremely successful as a batter as well as the leader in the league. But to see him not captaining the team would be hard to digest for Mumbai Indians fans.
I am sure Rohit will have a great time in the last phase of his career if he does make the jump – Ambati Rayudu on Rohit Sharma
Ambati Rayudu gave a fresh take on what he said about Rohit Sharma moving to Chennai Super Kings after Mumbai Indians. He said moving to the Yellow Army wasn’t tough as he along with Harbhajan Singh also did the same.
Ambati Rayudu was optimistic that if Rohit Sharma moves to CSK for the last phase of his career, he will be having a great time. Speaking to Star Sports, he stated:
“I said that it is my wish or opinion. I never said that he would play at Chennai Super Kings. It is up to CSK and Rohit but at the end of the day, it’s not so difficult to go from Mumbai to CSK.
“Harbhajan Singh did it, I have done it so the transition is quite smooth and CSK is a great team to play for. I am sure Rohit will have a great time in the last phase of his career if he does make the jump.”
Apart from Ambati Rayudu and Harbhajan Singh, Dwayne Bravo, Karn Sharma, and Dwayne Smith are more players who jumped from MI to CSK.
