While the highly-awaited seventeenth season of the Indian Premier League is yet to get underway, it looks like Kolkata Knight Riders have made their star allrounder Andre Russell angry. The reason is a video uploaded by the franchise on its Instagram account.
In the video, the West Indies allrounder could be seen conceding a six against Manish Pandey. The right-handed batsman will be plying his trade for KKR in IPL 2024. The two-time champions signed up their former player in the last auction.
The first Indian player to score a century in the IPL, Manish Pandey played for KKR from 2014 to 2017. In 2014, he starred with the bat in the IPL final, scoring 94 as KKR defeated Punjab Kings to win the tournament for the second time. After being released by the Kolkata-based outfit, Manish Pandey played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals before being re-signed by the two-time champions.
Manish Pandey hits Andre Russell for a big six:
Ahead of IPL 2024, Manish Pandey and Andre Russell were up against each other during an intra-squad match. During the face-off, the right-handed batsman hit Andre Russell for a big six down the ground. While no fast bowler likes to get hit for a six over his head, the West Indies star had no option but to see the ball sail over.
Later, KKR posted the video of the six on Instagram with the caption: “Pandey Ji just getting started 🔥”
Later, Andre Russell decided to post a humorous comment on the video, writing: “I don’t like this 🙄🙄🙄🙄 guys nope nope nope!!!”
Meanwhile, KKR will be looking to end their long wait for a title in the upcoming season. They have not won the title since 2014 and would be desperate to go all the way. They have a formidable squad this year and would be fancying their chances.
IPL 2024 is scheduled to get underway on March 22 while KKR will open their campaign on March 23 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens.
