Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif who played a key role during India’s triumph in the 2002 Natwest ODI series, has asked every IPL 2024 team to beware of Virat Kohli. Kaif made this claim while speaking to Star Sports in a build-up show for the toughest T20 league’s upcoming edition starting from March 22nd. The opening match will see the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in action.

Up against them will be 3-time runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore who are most likely to be known as Royal Challengers Bengaluru from this year onwards. It will be a clash of giants as MS Dhoni will be up against batting stalwart Virat Kohli who will play under the captaincy of Dhoni’s former disciple Faf Du Plessis.

While CSK will be aiming to claim their 6th IPL title this season, RCB will hope to end their wait for an IPL title along with Punjab and Delhi after 16 long years. This edition is going to be very special as we are going to see the comeback of Rishabh Pant, a possible ego clash between Ishan Kishan-Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma, and much more.

Kaif says Virat Kohli gets even more dangerous when he comes back from a break

Now let’s shift our focus to what Mohammad Kaif said about Virat Kohli during a recent chat with Star Sports. As we all know, Kohli had been on leave since January and missed the entire 5-match Test series against England due to the birth of his second child with Anushka Sharma.

Virat Kohli will be making his much-awaited return through the Indian Premier League and he will be joining the RCB camp in the upcoming days as well. In that context (Kohli’s return), Kaif stated that the 35-year-old, whenever he returns from a break, makes sure to shatter opposing bowling units and always comes back in style.

Kaif gave a throwback to the time when Kohli took a break before Asia Cup 2022 and upon his return, he scored a century after 2 years against Afghanistan.

“I remember during the Asia Cup (2022) when he scored a century against Afghanistan, since then, he hasn’t looked back. So I think he’s going to continue this amazing form. One special thing about Virat Kohli is that every time he comes back from a break, he plays really well. Most players want to be in touch and play regularly to get in form but Virat Kohli every time when he comes back, he comes across as a more dangerous batsman.” – Mohammad Kaif said via Star Sports.

The highest run-scorer of IPL history will aim to further stretch his 7263 runs after a 2023 season where he amassed 639 runs from 14 matches, including 2 centuries and 6 half-centuries.
