CSK and RCB go head to head in the opening match of IPL 2024 in Chennai on March 22, Friday. The match starts at 8 pm IST and will kick off the 17th season of the Indian Premier League. The two teams taking on each other are steeped in history. One team led by MS Dhoni has won the title five times.

The other led by Faf du Plessis is yet to win the elusive title. RCB has the ever-reliable Virat Kohli in their ranks who is the former skipper of the franchise and the highest scorer in the league.

He has scored 7 centuries in the league and owns almost every batting record possible in the IPL. The only thing he has not won yet is the IPL title. He ventures for the 17th time in his career now to an IPL title for the franchise for whom he has given his all.

The IPL 2024 is all about MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. CSK and Indian cricket fans are pinging their hopes of seeing Dhoni for one more season. For Kohli, this IPL season is as big as it gets given he is looking to make a comeback into the Indian T20I team with the T20 World Cup coming up.

Several former cricket experts and even the BCCI now feel that Kohli’s game is not suited to the conditions that will be on offer in the Caribbean and the USA. Getting runs in IPL 2024 would allow him to silence all his critics once again.
