Kolkata Knight Riders star Sunil Narine, on Wednesday (April 3), played a whirlwind knock against Delhi Capitals in Vishakhapatnam. Batting first, the two-time IPL champions posted a mammoth total of 272/7 and Sunil Narine led their charge with the bat.

He went berserk right from the word go and smashed 85 runs, his highest T20 score. The southpaw shared a crucial 60-run stand with opening partner Phil Salt in less than five overs before the latter departed for 18. It was followed by a 104-run stand between him and 18-year old debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

Sunil Narine's innings finally came to an end in the 13th over when he edged a short delivery from Mitchell Marsh behind the stumps. His knock came off 39 deliveries and was studded with seven fours and as many sixes. And while Sunil Narine is receiving praise from all over for his stunning display, former Pakistan bowler Junaid Khan has cited his innings as an example to take a take at the IPL.

Junaid Khan takes a dig at IPL:

The former cricketer questioned the quality of cricket in the IPL as he said that 'batting is so easy on these flat pitches'. He pointed out Sunil Narine's poor record with the bat in international cricket to back his claim as he took to X (formerly Twitter) to state:

"In IPL batting is so easy on these flat pitches, Sunil Narine has scored a total of 155 in his international T20 career and today he has scored 85 as an opener. The team total is 272."

Junaid had taken a shot at the level of cricket in the IPL earlier as well after Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a record total of 277/3 against Mumbai Indians last week.

"Flat pitches, small boundaries, quick outfield. This is called IPL. A target of 278 😲 ," Junaid had written.
