India skipper Rohit Sharma, who will not be captaining the Mumbai Indians for the first time since the 2013 IPL season, highlighted the importance of preparation ahead of the clash against Gujarat Titans. Rohit will be in action for the first time since he led the Indian team to a 4-1 Test series win against England earlier this month in Dharamshala.

There was plenty of controversy around Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher, and new skipper Hardik Pandya regarding MI’s leadership. The Hitman was removed from captaincy after Pandya was brought back to the franchise as part of a trade deal with Gujarat Titans before the IPL 2024 auction took place in Dubai last December.

This particular step was taken in order to keep Mumbai’s future bright and as it was mentioned by Mark Boucher, Rohit Sharma could be on for his final few seasons in the league. And that’s why Pandya was brought in not just as the all-rounder but also as the captain of the franchise. Meanwhile, for all the centrally contracted Indian players, IPL 2024 will be crucial and so it is for Rohit in order to enter the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in good form.

Rohit Sharma says preparing well for a game helps him get into a lot of confidence

In a minute-long video uploaded on Mumbai Indians’ official X (formerly Twitter) account, Rohit Sharma spoke about the various training regimes he goes through before a match. He stated that it fills him up with a lot of confidence heading into any particular game and he hadn’t done a few things in his practice at the time this video was shot. Lastly, Rohit said that he will be ready for the game against Gujarat Titans.

“I think for me preparation has always been the key and gives me a lot of confidence going into any game. So yeah, there are a lot of things that I do before a game and I think I’ve done almost everything now, just a few things here and there, which is left and I will do it now and I’ll be ready for the game,” Rohit said in a recent interview with MI.

Then Rohit shed light upon the youngsters and new buys made by the Mumbai Indians. He claimed that they have some really good international as well as domestic players who have done well of late. Rohit was also hopeful that all of them are able to make their mark right from the start.

“A lot of the players that we got from the auction a lot of new faces. Young players who have done well in domestic cricket and as well as in international cricket. So yeah, quite looking forward to that, hopefully they can make a mark right from the beginning.” – Rohit Sharma concluded.
