"I never thought..." - Virat Kohli delivers verdict on his journey with Rohit Sharma in Indian team

India batter Virat Kohli opened up about his journey with skipper Rohit Sharma in the India National Cricket Team. He said that he has seen the growth of the opening batter and what he has done for the team is amazing.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are no doubt the backbone of the Indian Cricket Team in all three formats of the game. Over the years, they have played some incredible brand of cricket and this is one of the main reasons by Team India are dominating in all three formats of the game.

The growth of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has been amazing. The duo started as youngsters in 2007-08 and 15 years later, they are rated as two of the greatest batters in world cricket. What they have achieved over the years is incredible and there's hardly any record book that doesn't feature the duo's name.

While Rohit Sharma is currently captaining the Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli is the leading batter for the team. Even in their late 30s, the amount of hard work that they put in is one to admire, and are performing like young batters in their peak for their national cricket team.

Virat Kohli talked about his 15-year cricketing journey, stating that he along with Rohit Sharma always tell youngsters to recognize the platform they are getting and respect whatever time they are playing. Speaking during the Asian Paints event, he stated:

“So today if someone asks me how have you played for 15 years, mujhe lagta hi nahi hai ki 15 saal ho gaye kyunki jo aapka perspective pehle din tha, looking this as an opportunity, wo aaj bhi hai. Jab tak aap kheloge, tab tak rahegaa.

"That's how we have grown up. That's what we discuss and tell youngsters to recognize the platform and opportunity you are getting and give full respect, wherever you play."

I have seen Rohit Sharma's growth as a player - Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli further touted his journey with Rohit Sharma as amazing, stating that he has seen the growth of the Indian skipper from being a youngster to now leading the team. He also stated that his career has also grown alongside him. He added:

"We have played together for 15 years and I never thought in the beginning that me and Rohit Sharma would be the last few senior players in the team. It's been a great journey. I have seen Rohit Sharma's growth as a player and what he has done in his career and now how he is leading the Indian team, it has been amazing. My career has grown alongside as well and it's been great for India in general."

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are currently playing in the Indian Premier League. The duo will be up against each other on Thursday (11th April) as Mumbai Indians will be hosting Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both the players have looked in decent touch with the bat in the league.
