Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have appointed Nicholas Pooran as their captain ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). KL Rahul is the captain of the franchise.
The West Indies star has replaced allrounder Krunal Pandya as the vice-captain of the team. Last year, Krunal Pandya was leading the side after a quadricep strain had ruled Rahul out of the competition. Krunal scored 188 runs and picked up nine wickets in 15 games in IPL 2023. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran scored 358 runs with the help of two half-centuries.

Nicholas Pooran in IPL so far:
One of the most dangerous T20 batters in the world, Nicholas Pooran has been plying his trade in the IPL since 2019. He has played 62 games in the competition so far and has scored 1270 runs with the help of six half-centuries. Before being signed up by Lucknow Super Giants, he plied his trade for Punjab Kings in the competition.
KL Rahul likely to be fit for IPL 2024:
LSG captain KL Rahul is currently sidelined with a quadricep strain. He suffered the injury during the first Test against England last month. Although it was expected that he would recover quickly and take part in the series, Rahul has failed to recover. At present, he has traveled to London to consult a specialist. However, reports suggest that the batsman is likely to recover in time for IPL 2024.
IPL 2024 is scheduled to begin on March 22 with a mouthwatering clash between champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. LSG will open their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 in Jaipur.
