Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) game, slated to take place on 17th April in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is all set to be rescheduled. As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the match at the Eden Gardens might get relocated to some other venue or will be played some other day.
This is because the festival Ram Navami is also scheduled to take place during that time. The festival is celebrated with a lot of fervent and therefore authorities are not sure if they can provide security for the KKR vs RR match, which will be taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 17th April.
With general elections also being there, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to postpone the game. As per the reports, the governing body has hinted about the development related to the KKR vs RR game to all the parties, including the franchises, state associations, and broadcasters.
The reports also claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India is in talks with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Kolkata Police about the same. Although the governing body hasn’t taken a final decision but is likely that the game will be hampered due to the Ram Navami.
The BCCI has faced a lot of challenges in hosting the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to the elections in India. But things are running smoothly so far. They first announced the schedule for the first 21 games and recently revealed the entire schedule as the dates of the general elections were announced.
The BCCI is hosting the IPL in a home-away format and is putting every effort to not shift the league out of India. The governing body is now facing a situation related to the KKR vs RR game and might have to change the schedule a bit of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
A source close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India revealed that are in talks with police authorities about the security for the KKR vs RR game and will be taking a decision soon. Talking to Cricbuzz, he stated: “The discussions are on with the police authorities and we will take a decision soon.”
KKR and RR dominating IPL so far
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are clearly the top two teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Coming to the Shreyas Iyer-led side, they have played a magnificent brand of cricket and have won both the games that they have played so far in the tournament.
KKR won the first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and then thumped Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They are currently placed at the top of the table. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are also dominant in the league so far as they have also won two consecutive games in the tournament.
They first defeated Lucknow Super Giants and then pounded Delhi Capitals. They will next seen in action on Monday (1st April) when they will be taking on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. KKR on the other hand will be seen in action on 3rd April against Delhi Capitals.
