Shashank Singh starred with the bat as Punjab Kings (PBKS) chased down 200 runs against Gujarat Titans (GT) to get back back to winning ways in IPL 2024.
Asked to bat first, GT rode on their captain Shubman Gill's unbeaten knock of 89 to post a daunting total of 199/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Gill and Wriddhiman Saha added 29 runs for the opening wicket before the latter was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 11.
Gill and Kane Williamson then took the score past the 50-run mark. Harpreet Brar broke the stand by dismissing Williamson for 26. Sai Sudharsan got the start once again but he failed to convert it into a big score again and returned to the pavilion for 33. Gill, however, stood firm at one end and remained till the end to take his team to almost 200.
Towards the end, Rahul Tewatia also came up with a crucial cameo that helped the Titans finish their innings strongly. Tewatia smashed an unbeaten 23 off just eight balls. On the other hand, Gill's 89-run knock came off 48 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes.
In reply, PBKS' chances of winning the game looked all but done after they were reduced to 111 for 5 in the 13th over. However, Shashank Singh scored a 25-ball fifty and eventually scored an unbeaten 61 off just 29 balls to take PBKS home with one ball remaining. Ashutosh Sharma also played a crucial knock of 31 runs from 17 balls.

With the win, PBKS have moved to the fifth spot in the points table with 2 wins and 2 defeats. On the other hand, GT are at the sixth spot. Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the top of the table followed by Rajasthan Royals.
