Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Monday (April 15), beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 25 runs in the 30th game of IPL 2024. After posting a record total of 287/3, SRH restricted RCB to 262/7.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis shared an 80-run stand for the first wicket before Mayank Markande dismissed the former for 42 in the 7th over. RCB's middle-order failed to deliver again as Will Jacks (7), Rajat Patidar (9) and Saurav Chauhan (0) could not score big. Du Plessis also could not stay till the end and departed after scoring 62 as RCB found themselves five down for 122 in the 10th over.

Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror stopped the rot with a 59-run stand for the sixth wicket. Pat Cummins broke the stand by dismissing Lomror for 19. Karthik waged a lone battle and played a fine knock of 83 runs but could not take RCB over the line. In the end, RCB finished on 262/7 to suffer their sixth defeat in seven games this season.

Earlier in the game, Travis Head's whirlwind century helped SRH pile up a record total of 287/3 in 20 overs after Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Head completed his fifty off just 20 balls inside the powerplay and shared a 108-run stand with Abhishek Sharma for the first wicket in just 49 balls. He then went on to complete his first IPL century in just 39 balls before departing for 102 runs. His knock came off 40 balls and was studded with nine fours and eight sixes.

Heinrich Klaasen then took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners by playing a whirlwind knock of 67 runs off just 31 balls. The Proteas star's knock was studded with two fours and seven sixes. Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad then came up with brilliant cameos to power their team to a 280-plus total.

They shared an unbeaten 56-run stand in just 18 balls. Markram remained unbeaten on 32 off 17 balls while Samad hit 37 runs from 10 balls.
