Kagiso Rabada delivers huge statement on Mayank Yadav's T20 World Cup 2024 selection

Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Kagiso Rabada heaped massive praise on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav for his performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He feels that the youngster understands his role and Indian selectors might look at him for the T20 World Cup 2024.

It’s been early days in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Mayank Yadav already seems to be the find of the tournament. The Lucknow Super Giants pacer has been nothing short of exceptional in the league and has exhibited a high-class fast-bowling display.

What has caught the attention of many has been his ability to consistently clock the 155 kmph. Not only the pace but Mayank Yadav has been troubling batters with the line and lengths and is making sure that he helps his team win the games by blowing away the opposition.

Mayank Yadav made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants in the game against Punjab Kings. He made sure that he left immediate impact and returned with the figures of 3/27. He came to bowl when his team looked down and dusted. But he changed the course of his game with his spell.

In the next game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mayank Yadav wreaked havoc across the opposition’s batting lineup. He troubled Australian batters with his raw pace and returned with the figures of 3/14. He won Player of the Match and became the first player to win two awards in his first two games in the league.

Kagiso Rabada, who is considered one of the best bowlers in the world, was in awe of Mayank Yadav. The South African pacer highlighted the lines and lengths of the LSG pacer and believes that the young Delhi pacer has a lot of clarity in his mind. Speaking to PTI, he explained:

“He has got something that you cannot buy and that is raw pace. That is what exactly he is exploiting and exploiting it extremely well. The lengths that he hits, his plan is clear and now batters are going to be aware of what he can bring to the party.

“But it is pretty obvious he has got immense pace and it seems he can control where he wants to bowl. When you have got pace and control as well, and he understands his role. So, when you have got clarity, it is no surprise that he is turning out performances like that.”

Kagiso Rabada believes that Mayank Yadav is looking hot at the moment and BCCI selectors would have a keen eye on him. The Punjab Kings fast bowler feels that his Lucknow Super Giants counterpart could be a potential pick for the T20 World Cup. He added:

“At this stage, he is looking hot and I have no doubt selectors will be looking at him at as a potential guy in the team but that is none of my business. To my understanding, he will definitely be looked at as a potential pick.”

Mayank Yadav will be next seen in action when Lucknow Super Giants will take on Gujarat Titans in their next game on 7th April.
