Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) emerging pace sensation Mayank Yadav expressed surprise at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) huge fan base. Mayank Yadav expressed delight for the unexpected support he received from the crowd during the recent match at Bengaluru's stadium.

Mayank Yadav has emerged as a standout figure in IPL 2024 due to his exceptional bowling displays. His rapid pace proved challenging for batters, with speeds reaching 156.7 kmph during the RCB match. Yadav secured the 'Player of the Match' title in his first two IPL appearances.

The 21-year-old secured three wickets for 27 runs in his IPL debut match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He helped the team secure a 21-run victory against the Shikhar Dhawan-led side. He continued his impressive form in the RCB match, claiming an even better spell of 3/14, which propelled LSG to a 28-run win.

RCB Has A Very Huge and Loyal Fan Base - Mayank Yadav

In a video posted by Lucknow Super Giants on X (formerly Twitter), Mayank Yadav expressed his surprise at the massive and loyal fan base of RCB. He appreciated the overwhelming cheers directed towards him while fielding near the boundary, highlighting the unexpected but heartwarming experience.

"I heard that RCB has a very huge fan base and a very loyal fan base. But after my spell, when I was fielding near the boundary, everyone was cheering for me a lot. So that is one thing I liked a lot - that all fans and all the people out there are supporting me a lot," Mayank said.

The Super Giants recruited the talented young fast bowler for a base price of Rs 20 lakh in the 2022 mega-auction but did not field him throughout the season. Unfortunately, he was sidelined for the entire 2023 season due to an injury. Nonetheless, the team management opted to retain him for the 2024 season.

Mayank Yadav Was Really Impressive - Glenn Maxwell

In an interview on ESPNCricinfo's Around the Wicket, Glenn Maxwell lauded Mayank Yadav's exceptional bowling talent, comparing it to Shaun Tait's peak performance. Maxwell recounted Yadav's delivery of a high bouncer, highlighting the challenging pitch conditions in Bengaluru.

"I thought it was really impressive. He hurried on a few of the Punjab batters and I certainly did a little bit of homework before coming up against him. But it is nothing doing homework against someone until you actually see it coming out of the hand and have to try and pick up the length," Maxwell told ESPNCricinfo

"He bowled me the first one, which was just a high bouncer and the wicket that we have been producing at [Bengaluru] has been a little bit two-paced and it sort of came through a bit slower than I thought it was going to. And I was like, ah, that was not too bad," he added.

The team led by KL Rahul currently holds the fourth position in the points table, having secured two wins out of three matches. With a total of four points and a net run rate of +0.483, they are positioned well in the tournament. Their next match is scheduled against the Delhi Capitals in Lucknow on Friday, April 12.
