Cricketer-turned-commentator Virender Sehwag heaped praises on Mayank Yadav after his spectacular debut in IPL 2024. Sehwag also highlighted a key difference between pacers Mayank Yadav and Umran Malik. Both pacers can bowl consistent 150-plus KMPH deliveries.

Umran Malik made the headlines in IPL 2021 with his lethal pace attack. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the right-arm pacer impressed with his speed and demolished opposition batters with his pace attack. Malik became a widely known pacer in the 2021 season and also earned a national call-up later.

Like Malik, Mayank Yadav has grabbed the limelight after his debut in IPL 2024. The LSG pacer has bowled consistently at speeds above 150 KMPH across two games in IPL 2024. He also won the Player of the Match award in both games.

Virender Sehwag highlights the difference between Mayank Yadav and Umran Malik

Former India opener Virender Sehwag highlighted a key difference between both pacers Umran Malik and Mayank Yadav. While speaking to Cricbuzz, Shewag noted that Yadav has a better line and length than Malik.

“The difference between Mayank (Yadav) and Umran (Malik) is that his lines are accurate. Umran was also quick but he wasn’t able to improve on his line and length. Mayank’s lines and lengths are accurate”, the 45-year-old said.

Sehwag also backed Mayank Yadav to play for Team India after IPL 2024.

“He (Mayank) is well aware that he has the speed but if I get my lines wrong then I could concede boundaries. Just for that alone I feel that he should play international cricket after IPL if he remains fit,” he further added.

Even Virat Kohli can’t deliver a match-winning performance in 7-8 matches: Sehwag

With Mayank Yadav’s 3-wicket haul, LSG defeated RCB by 28 runs. His figures of 3 for 14 helped LSG to bowl out the opposition for 153 in the match against a target of 182. Talking about the match, Sehwag said that even Virat Kohli cannot win 7-8 matches for RCB.

“Even Virat Kohli can’t deliver a match-winning performance in 7-8 matches. Every team expects its expensive players to play a big innings in at least 2-3 matches. If a player can guide team to victory in 2-3 matches, then it’s a very big achievement,” Sehwag said during a conversation with Manoj Tiwary.

Tiwary earlier said Kohli has to deliver good performances for RCB so that they win at least 7-8 games. The reputed commentator also highlighted that no player has ever played 7-8 match-winning in a single season of IPL.

“A player needs to give consistent performances likes scoring 100 runs in one game, 80 runs in the second, and so on. Taking a team to victory in 7-8 matches can only be possible in a year and not in IPL. In 17 years of IPL, I have never seen any player playing 7-8 match-winning knocks for his team,” said Sehwag, who played for Team India from 1999 to 2013.
