Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off each other in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The game between the two teams took place on Monday (1st April) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 

Mumbai Indians bagged their third consecutive loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as Rajasthan Royals thumped them by 6 wickets to bag their third successive win. It was a complete domination from the Sanju Samson-led side as they bowled and batted magnificently well. 

MI vs RR IPL 2024 Match 14 – Mumbai Indians innings: Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal wreck havoc across Mumbai Indians batting lineup 

Mumbai Indians were asked to bat and it was the worst possible start for them. Trent Boult oozed his class with the new ball as he removed Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir. The duo bagged golden ducks and were back in the hut in the first over leaving hosts at 1/2. 

Trent Boult didn’t stop there as he continued his carnage on the Mumbai Indians batters. The left-arm pacer removed Dewald Brevis a for golden duck as well. Ishan Kishan (16) played some shots but couldn’t carry on as Nandre Burger joined the party and left Mumbai Indians tottering at 20/4.

Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya then counter-attacked the Rajasthan Royals bowlers and made sure that they bailed the team out of trouble. They played some crisp shots in innings and added 56 runs for the 5th wicket that saw Mumbai getting some quick runs under their belt. 

While Hardik Pandya scored 34 runs, Tilak Varma ended with innings of 32 runs. After they got out, Mumbai Indians came under immense pressure as Rajasthan Royals were back in the game. It was expected that Tim David would hit some big blows to take the team to a big score. 

But that wasn’t the case as he struggled big time and scored just 17 runs off 24 balls. Rajasthan Royals bowled exceptionally well in the last and restricted Mumbai Indians to a total of 125 runs. Apart from Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal picked three wickets whereas Nandre Burger bagged two scalps and one belonged to Avesh Khan.

MI vs RR IPL 2024 Match 14 – Rajasthan Royals innings: Riyan Parag continues his golden touch and takes his team home 

Rajasthan Royals had a shaky start to their innings as Mumbai Indians’ new ball bowlers tested them big time. Yashasvi Jaiswal was back in the hut early on for 10 runs as Kwena Maphaka trapped him in lbw in the first over of the innings. 

Sanju Samson (12) and Jos Buttler (13) tried to get going but Akash Madhwal removed both of them to bring Mumbai Indians back in the game. But after that, Riyan Parag (54*) and Ravichandran Ashwin (16) batted well and took the game away from Mumbai. 

Parag stayed there till the end and slammed his second half-century of the season. The batter finished the game for his team in style and made sure that he helped his team win the third consecutive game of the season.
