"MS Dhoni is god of..." - Saurabh Tiwary makes huge claim; says Rohit Sharma gives a lot of liberty to players

Former India and Mumbai Indians cricketer Saurabh Tiwary opened up about playing with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. He hailed the keeper-batter as the god of Jharkhand cricket and said that it was because of him players from his state got recognition.

MS Dhoni served the Indian cricket team for a long time. He did some incredible things as a leader of the team and put India at the top in all three formats of the game. Hailing from Jharkhand, the keeper-batter changed the dynamics of Indian cricket.

MS Dhoni ended his career as the best captain of the Indian cricket team. The keeper-batter guided Men in Blue to all the ICC titles affiliated with the white-ball. While his leadership was one of the main highlights of his career, his attitude towards the players was commendable.

MS Dhoni has been the guiding light for many players. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and others have nurtured under him. Another player that got groomed was Jharkhand player Saurabh Tiwary.

Saurabh Tiwary played just three ODIs for India but he was a stalwart for Jharkhand in domestic cricket and also played a vital role for Mumbai Indians. He recently called time on his career after Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy game against Rajasthan.

Saurabh Tiwary said that MS Dhoni gave confidence to all the players in Jharkhand and also attended the team’s practice sessions. He added that the keeper-batter’s support is everything for them. Speaking to Sportsnow, he explained:

“MS Dhoni is the god of Jharkhand cricket. Ever since he started playing for India, people started knowing us as a team. They came to know where Jharkhand is. MS Dhoni gave us confidence and Jharkhand is one of the best teams in the domestic circuit.

“Whenever he is around or in the town, he comes to attend our practice sessions. Dhoni Bhaiya also gives advice to us before every match. Sometimes, he takes part in the warm-up games also. Dhoni bhaiya’s support is everything for us.”

Saurabh Tiwary also claimed that MS Dhoni stands by the players in their tough times. Before stating that the keeper-batter has been a guiding line for youngsters. He expressed:

“He will stand by you even if you are not performing. He gives a lot of chances to the players. Apart from leading the team, when Dhoni Bhaiya is standing behind the wicket, he helps bowlers a lot. He would tell you how the wicket is responding and also he will help you with accurate field placements.”

Saurabh Tiwary, who played under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in IPL, said that the India captain doesn’t make his players feel that he is the captain of the team. He added:

“I have played a lot of matches under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. When he is leading the team, he will not make you feel that he is the captain. He gives liberty to all the players.”

Saurabh Tiwary scored 8076 runs at an average of 47.51 including 22 hundreds and 34 fifties in 116 first-class matches he played for Jharkhand.
