MS Dhoni delivered a remarkable performance reminiscent of his prime in the 13th match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Former Australian players Brett Lee and Shane Watson were astonished witnesses to MS Dhoni’s vintage display against the Delhi Capitals.

The Chennai Super Kings suffered a 20-run loss to the Rishabh Pant-led team in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 31. The Capitals posted 191/5 in 20 overs after choosing to bat first. The Super Kings failed to chase down the target, marking their first loss in the IPL 2024.

MS Dhoni entered the fray at No. 8, with the team reeling at six wickets for 120 runs in 16.1 overs. He scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 16 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and three sixes, but it wasn’t sufficient to secure victory as Chennai ultimately lost the match.

MS Dhoni Is Doing It – Shane Watson

Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson praised MS Dhoni’s performance, specifically highlighting his six over extra cover. Watson emphasized Dhoni’s ability to excel under pressure and turn the tide in seemingly unwinnable situations.

“With MS Dhoni in this type of form – this is exactly what you want from him. His power and the skill he has got under pressure when the bowlers are really scrambling to execute, his ability to win a game out of nowhere we have seen so many times through his career. Some of his shots he played tonight, that’s as good a shot I have ever seen him play. The one over cover is one of the harder shots to play, but he is still doing it,” the former Australia all-rounder said.

MS Dhoni began Anrich Nortje’s over with a boundary over covers, followed by a six over cow corner and another boundary over mid-on. Dhoni smashed another six off the final ball, accumulating 20 runs from Nortje’s over as they ended their innings at 171/6.
