MS Dhoni's batting position in CSK to be altered!! Michael Clarke stuns fans with latest revelation

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke made intriguing remarks regarding legendary MS Dhoni's batting position for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Michael Clarke emphasized that MS Dhoni shouldn't move up in the order, despite his batting heroics against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
Michael Clarke's remarks follow widespread speculation suggesting MS Dhoni's suitability for a middle-order role after his quickfire 37 runs off 16 balls against the DC team. Notably, Dhoni had not batted in the first two matches preceding the encounter with the Delhi-based franchise.
The 42-year-old batter, positioned at No. 8, scored 37 runs with the help of four boundaries and three maximums. The wicketkeeper batter's performance outshone other batters on a challenging pitch where key players like Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja struggled to score.
However, the former CSK skipper batted at No. 7 in the subsequent match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The right-handed batter entered the crease with only three balls remaining in the innings. He scored just one run off two deliveries in Chennai's second consecutive loss.
May Not Be Such A Great Idea - Sanjay Manjrekar
Speaking on Star Sports, former cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Michael Clarke shared their perspectives on MS Dhoni's batting position. Manjrekar emphasized that Dhoni's strength lies in making quick impacts rather than batting in higher positions.
"Which means he will have to come ahead of somebody like a Daryl Mitchell, Ravindra Jadeja or Shivam Dube. Is that the right call? I Wonder. May be not. I want him to replicate what he did last season. Few balls and maximum impact. And even in that match, when he got 30-odd, he got it in 16-17 balls. MS Dhoni’s strengths likes in his wicketkeeping, being a guide to Ruturaj and his cameos. Sending him at No. 3 or No. 4 may not be such a great idea," Sanjay Manjrekar said.
MS Dhoni Doesn't Need To - Michael Clarke
Michael Clarke shared similar views, emphasizing that Dhoni's effectiveness lies in his role as a finisher. Clarke stressed the importance of young players in CSK stepping up as Dhoni approaches the end of his illustrious career.
"You are spot on, Sanjay. He doesn’t need to. That’s never been his role in any format of the game. There might have been occasions when he goes up the order. But, generally, he is a finisher. He is probably the best finisher the game has ever seen. So he doesn’t have to change that," Michael Clarke said while speaking on the same panel.
After suffering two consecutive losses, the Chennai-based franchise will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday, April 8. The Ruturaj-led team will return to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where they secured victories in their first two matches of the season.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is expected to be available for the upcoming game. He missed the last match due to visa work for the 2024 T20 World Cup. He rejoined the squad on Sunday night. He picked up seven wickets in three matches at an impressive average of 15.14.
