Mumbai Indians take on Rajasthan Royals in match 14 of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 1, Monday. This is the first home game for MI and the third game each for the two teams.
Mumbai Indians are heading into this game after back-to-back losses against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians bowlers went for 277 runs in their previous game against SRH. They reached 246 in the chase making the match the highest ever in terms of runs as 523 runs were scored in the game.
The match gave alarming signs and glimpses of the weakened MI bowling lineup. Jaspeit BUmrah has returned to the side. However, there is a lot of pressure on him to deliver. Gerald Coetzee too went for plenty as dis the replacement for 16-yer-old Kwena Maphaka. The only positive sign with this pace attack is all of them are good bowlers and should come good in the remaining games.
Hardik Pandya’s captaincy has been the talking point in both of MI’s losses. He did not start with Jasperit BUmrah in both the games which was a surprise call. He did not use him well throughout the bowling phase as well. Piyush Chawla too went for plenty as did Hardik who went for 46 off his four overs.
The batting lineup looks good and is expected to deliver at home. Rohit Sharma now freed of captaincy gave glimpses of his old self as he scored a quickfie 26 off 12 balls. Ishan Kishan and Yilak Varma need to take more responsibility in the absence of Suryakumar Yadav.
A BCCI official said that he is still progressing well in his fitness and might miss a few more games for Mumbai Indians. In his absence, Tim David also needs to take more responsibility. In this article, we predict the possible Mumbai Indians playing XI.
