Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to miss his team’s next match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Mustafizur Rahman has flown to Bangladesh ahead of the match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing tournament.

Mustafizur Rahman made his debut for the Chennai Super Kings against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The left-arm pacer picked up four wickets for 29 runs in his first match. Overall, he took seven wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 8.83.

The Bangladesh pacer claimed 2 wickets for 30 runs against the Gujarat Titans (GT), aiding the team’s victory. Conversely, facing the Delhi Capitals, his former IPL team, Rahman conceded 47 runs for one wicket in his four overs, proving expensive with the ball.

Mustafizur Rahman Set To Miss Chennai Super Kings’ Next Match

As per the reports, Mustafizur Rahman has traveled to Bangladesh to finalize his US visa, with the biometric process scheduled for April 4. The Bangladesh Cricket Board prioritizes his visa for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean.

The 28-year-old pacer will miss Chennai Super Kings’ upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 due to his visa processing in Bangladesh. Rahman’s return to the team is dependent on when he receives his passport, expected by Sunday or Monday.

If further delays occur, Rahman could miss the Super Kings’ next match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, April 8.

Later Mustafizur Rahman Will Travel Back To India – Jalal Yunus

On Wednesday, Jalal Yunus, BCB’s cricket operations chairman, confirmed to Cricbuzz that Mustafizur Rahman had arrived from the IPL to facilitate US visa procedures for the T20 World Cup.

“Mustafizur arrived last night from the IPL for US visa purposes for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He will be giving his fingerprint at the US embassy tomorrow (April 4) and later will travel back to India to join Chennai,” Jalal Yunus told Cricbuzz.

Mustafizur Rahman’s NOC For The Tournament Runs Till April 30 – Jalal Yunus

Mustafizur Rahman will play in the IPL only until the end of April, as he is scheduled to join the national side for the T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting on May 3.

Yunus added that Rahman’s NOC for the tournament expires on April 30, and they expect him to return after that from the IPL.

“His NOC for the tournament runs till April 30 and we are expecting him to back after that from IPL,” Yunus added.

Chennai Super Kings Occupy Third Place In IPL 2024 Table

Just a day before the tournament opener, MS Dhoni announced his resignation as captain, passing the baton to opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. With this development, speculation has arisen about Dhoni’s future in the IPL, sparking questions about his potential retirement.

Ruturaj Gaikwad led the team to consecutive victories in the first two matches of the ongoing tournament. However, the Chennai-based team faced a 20-run defeat against the Delhi Capitals. CSK currently holds the third position in the table, tallying four points.

The team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad is scheduled to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their upcoming match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday, April 5.
