Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins opened up about the loss his team faced in the game against Gujarat Titans in the 12th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He admitted that they didn’t bat well and were 10-15 runs short.

Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a disappointing 7-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans in their third game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This marked their second loss of the season in the third game as they batted and bowled poorly at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who scored 277 runs in the last game, failed to set the stage on fire with the bat in the game against Gujarat Titans. Abdul Samad was the joint-highest run-scorer for his team with his innings of 29 runs, which speaks volumes about their poor batting display.

The likes of Travis Head (19), Abhishek Sharma (29), Aiden Markram (17), and Shahbaz Ahmed (22) had started but they failed to get going. Based on the little contributions from all, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed just 162 runs at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.

With the ball, Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled to get going. Although they removed Wriddhiman Saha (25) and Shubman Gill (36) early, they failed to capitalize on that. David Miller (44*) and Sai Sudharsan (45) then batted well and took the game away from the Pat Cummins’ team. The duo added 64 runs together and put SRH bowlers under immense pressure. Miller returned to form and took his team home with 5 balls to spare.

Skipper Pat Cummins talked about the loss his team faced against Gujarat Titans and admitted that they needed batters to go and get fifty. But that didn’t happen, which made them 10-15 runs short. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

“Good game of cricket was tight in the end, probably we needed 10-15 more runs. I think they bowled well, just losing a couple of wickets, didn’t have that one person who kicked on to get a fifty, that happens.”

Pat Cummins also gave insights about how the wicket played at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad. He felt the surface stayed the same for both innings and it was slow. Talking further about the same, he elaborated:

“Today it was, we thought the wicket was going to get a bit slow, the off-cutters did grip, and we had 8 bowling options in our side. I thought the wicket played the same in both innings. It’s T20 cricket isn’t it? Had a fantastic couple of games with the bat, today we didn’t quite click.”

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be next seen in action when they take on Chennai Super Kings in their next game. The match between the two teams will take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday (5th April). They would be desperate for the win, having lost two games already. They are reeling 5th on the points table and would be hoping to make a comeback before it gets late.
