Not best friend MS Dhoni! Suresh Raina reveals his son is a big fan of Virat Kohli

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who is currently playing in the Indian Veteran Premier League 2024, revealed about his son’s favourite cricketer. Raina revealed that his son loves watching Virat and he is his favourite cricketer. Speaking to Sports Tak, Raina mentioned that his son watches a lot of cricket and is a big fan of the game.

Indian batsman Virat Kohli doesn’t need any explanation as to why he has loads of fans in every corner of the world. Virat is the most followed Indian sportsman on Instagram and has more than 200 million followers. Virat has set up different fitness standards and is one of the fittest Indian cricketers. The former Indian captain has never missed a match due to an injury and runs with gun speed between the wickets.

Suresh Raina names his son’s favourite Indian cricketer

Suresh Raina said on SportsTak, “Now I have become his coach. Normally, he gives me coaching. I have to change his grip. He has come here also. He has a lot of interest in playing the game, but I want him to enjoy the game. He watches a lot of cricket. He is a big fan of Virat Kohli.”

Suresh Raina has been one of the best lower-order batsmen for the Indian cricket team. The former left-handed batter was the first Indian cricketer to slam hundreds in all three formats and also the first Indian to hit a ton in T20Is. Raina has played many innings for the Indian cricket team while coming at number 5 and 6 wherein he has helped the ‘Men in Blue’ win matches.

Suresh Raina won the ODI World Cup 2011 and the Champions Trophy 2013 along with the Indian team under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The veteran wicket-keeper is meant to be amongst the closest friends of Suresh Raina. Both the players played a lot of cricket together not only in the Indian team but also during the Indian Premier League in the Chennai Super Kings. Raina is one of the highest scorers of the tournament and is also known as ‘Mr. IPL’.

However, due to a dip in form, Suresh Raina remained unsold in the IPL 2022 and hence he announced his retirement from the cash-rich league. Also, the friendship between Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni was so deep that both players announced their international retirement on the same date ie 15th August 2020.

Suresh Raina is now seen playing league cricket all round the world and also does commentary during the Indian Premier League.

Speaking about MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain is all set to return to the cricket field and will be leading the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. The veteran wicket keeper will have the chance to become the most successful captain of the cash rich league in terms of IPL trophies and would be hoping to help the franchise win their 6th IPL title. CSK would be playing the opening match of the tournament on March 22, 2024 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
