Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta posted an inspirational message for Shashank Singh after the batter won the game for the team against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. She highlighted how the batter took all the jokes and comments over the auction controversy positively and didn't become the victim of trolls.
Till yesterday (4th April), Shashank Singh was known as a player who was brought by mistake by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 auction. However, the batter made sure that he turned that around as he produced a magical effort with the bat in the game against Gujarat Titans and helped his team win the game.
Shashank Singh registered a win for Punjab Kings from the jaws of defeat as he oozed his class with the bat at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad and helped his team win the second game of the season. The right-hander came out to hat when his team was tumbling and lost early wickets in a chase of 200.
Shashank Singh came out to bat with a positive intent and brought his team back in the game. The right-hander took Gujarat Titans bowlers to cleaners all over the park and made sure that he took his team home. The batter slammed a half-century in just 25 balls and put the opposition under pressure.
Shashank Singh stayed till the end and made sure that he took his team home. He ended with the innings of 61 runs off 29 balls and also slammed 6 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. Punjab Kings chased the target with one ball to spare and registered their second win of the season.
After he won the match for his team, Preity Zinta posted a heartfelt message for Shashank Singh. The franchise owner stated that the batter ended all the talks that were said about the team in an auction. She highlighted that if it was someone else in batter's place, he would've come under pressure.
Preity Zinta further claimed that Shashank Singh took all the trolls and comments positively and performed under pressure. Taking to her Twitter account, she stated:
"Today seems like the perfect day to finally talk about things that were said in the past about us at the auction. A lot of people in similar situations would have lost confidence, buckled under pressure or become de-motivated ……. but not Shashank !
"He is not like a lot of people. He is truly special. Not just because of his skill as a player but because of his positive attitude & incredible spirit. He took all the comments, jokes and brick bats so sportingly & never became a victim."
He backed himself and showed us what he is made of - Preity Zinta on Shashank Singh
Preity Zinta further added that Shashank Singh proved to the whole world what he is made of and the batter earned her respect and admiration. She also stressed that batter's story can be an inspiration for everyone. She added:
"He backed himself and showed us what he is made of, and for that I applaud him He has my admiration & my respect. I hope he can be an example to all of you when life takes a different turn & does not play according to script, for it's not what people think of you that matters, but what You think of Yourself ! So never stop believing in yourself like Shashank & I'm sure you will be Man of the match in the game of life."

Notably, during the IPL 2024 auction, PBKS co-owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia after bidding for Shashank Singh looked confused and withdrew the bid as they went in for the wrong player. But auctioneer Malika Sagar had already brought down the hammer.
