High-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be taking on last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 12th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). The match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
GT will be hoping to get back to winning ways on their home ground. The 2022 IPL winners began their campaign with a thrilling six-run win over Mumbai Indians at home last week. However, they could not come up with a winning performance against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in Chennai earlier this week.
CSK thoroughly outplayed GT to win the game by a big margin of 63 runs. Set a target of 297 runs, GT could only score 143. On the other hand, SRH will be high on confidence after their thumping win over Mumbai Indians in their previous outing.
The Hyderabad-based outfit began their season with a 4-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders. Chasing 209, SRH came up with a good batting effort but eventually finished on 204. They opened their account in style by thrashing Mumbai Indians by 31 runs. SRH piled a record total of 277/3 before restricting Mumbai to 246 to register their first win of IPL 2024.
GT vs SRH: Impact players
SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first against GT. Speaking at the toss, the Australia star said: “We are gonna have a bat, looks like a good wicket so we want to put runs on the board. Don’t Know about that, but good wonderful memories back here and it’s a packed stadium as well. We scored the highest score ever, we are very capable of that.”
GT captain Shubman Gill said: “We would have bowled first, looks like a good wicket. Definitely have a lot of good memories to look back here and would like to make good memories here. The support that I get from Ashu Paa and the management is great. We have got two changes – Noor Ahmad comes in for Mitch and Darshan Naklande comes in for Sai Kishore.”
