Beleaguered Mumbai Indians (MI) will be taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 20th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL). The MI vs DC game is being played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Both the teams have made disastrous start to their campaign in IPL 2024 and will be desperate to win today's game. MI are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with three losses in a row. The five-time champions are the only team who are yet to win a game in the ongoing season.
In their last game, they suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals at home. The Hardik Pandya led-side could score only 125/9 in 20 overs and went on to lose the game.
DC's condition is not very promising either. The Rishabh-Pant led side is languishing at the ninth spot in the points table with only one win from their opening four games. DC are coming into this game on the back of a crushing defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR piled up 272/7 against DC before bowling them out for 166 to win the game by 106 runs.
MI vs DC: Impact players
DC have won the toss and opted to field first. Speaking at toss, DC captain Rishabh Pant said: "We will bowl first. The wicket looks good, but you can chase any target here in Wankhede. We'll have to stick together as a team. I'm happy to be back, pleasure to be on the field in each and every game. Bowling is one department where we've been on and off, but it's hard for them in T20s. Just two changes for us."
MI captain Suryakumar Yadav said: "We would have bowled first as well, but batting first is also not a problem, this wicket does look a bit drier. The ball might not come on nicely unlike in a night game. But there will be less swing and it should be good to bat.
"We don't want to put pressure onto us, but one win will give us a lot of confidence. Almost 18,000 young people are supporting us today, we're here to represent them and want them to go back home with a smile. Three changes for us - Surya is back, he replaces Naman. Romario replaces Mapakha and Nabi is in, he replaces Brevis," he added.
