Team India captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma did not hold back when asked about the reason behind his abusing his players on the field whenever on National duty.
Rohit was asked to reflect on his behavior when he recently appeared in the Great Indian Kapil Sharma show along with statesman Shreyas Iyer.
Therein, in his response, the 36-year-old said that at times he is left with no option but to abuse to keep his "Lazy" players active and on their toes. He also called some of his teammates "roosters".
This particular habit of Rohit Sharma abusing his India players is not anything new. Abusing players on-field is a primitive ritual that has been going on for a long time. It's just that Rohit's words, at times, sound too harsh and are caught on the mic-stump much more often.
In terms of using foul language to address players, former India captain Virat Kohli was also the same but Rohit's remarks usually have a funny side to it as well.
It came under the spotlight very recently when the Indian team welcomed Ben Stokes' England for a 5-match Test series. Rohit Sharma and co. after losing the 1st Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs, had gone on to claim victories in the next 4 Tests and sent England packing with a 4-1 series loss.
In that series, Rohit was heard using harsh language time and again. The one that broke the internet and went aggressively viral was when he threatened his players with severe consequences if they roamed around in the field as if they were in a Garden.
This incident unfolded during the 2nd Test in Vizag where India got back on level terms in the series with a 106-run victory.
Rohit Sharma tells Kapil Sharma that he has to use foul language
In his response to Kapil Sharma's question, Rohit Sharma jokingly said that his players are lazy roosters and that he doesn't have any choice but to use that type of language.
He also lamented the fact that the stump mic catches every single thing that he says but again, he has to speak to let players know that they have to give their 100% for the team's welfare.
"I do say something which is caught in the stump mic, I'm just standing behind at the slips. I have no other choice, our boys are lazy roosters, so I have to speak." - Rohit said via the Great Indian Kapil Sharma show.
