The ninth game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) will see Sunrisers Hyderabad welcome Mumbai Indians. The SRH vs MI is scheduled to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Both the teams started their campaign in the 17th edition of the IPL with a loss and will be desperate to open their account tonight. SRH played against Kolkata Knight Riders in their first game of the tournament and lost the game by 4 runs. Set a target of 209, SRH came up with a valiant batting effort but failed to cross the finishing line by just 4 runs.

They eventually finished their innings on 204 for 7. On the other, MI began their campaign with a six-run loss against last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans. The loss means MI have not won their opening game in an IPL season since 2012.

The MI bowlers did well to restrict GT to 168 for 6. In reply, MI were on 121 for 3 at one stage and needed 48 from 36 with 7 wickets in hand. The five-time IPL winners were looking destined to win the game but suffered an inexplicable collapse and eventually finished their innings on 162 for 9.

MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking at the toss, the India allrounder said: “We are going to bowl first. Looks like a good track, we were solid in the last game. Didn’t plan properly, that cost us the game.

“13 games to go, we need to keep doing the right things. We are positive and looking forward to the challenge. Just trying to spend time with all the players. Getting to know them better. One change, Luke misses out,” he added.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins said: ” Looks like a good wicket. Not too upset. It’s a tough tournament, the crowd and conditions will help. A couple of changes. Head comes in for Jansen. Natarajan has a niggle. We got a great squad, the players playing tonight got to give their everything.”
