Former Indian and CSK player Ambati Rayudu shared his views on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s failure to win any IPL season. Ambati Rayudu also highlighted the fact that big players at the top never perform for RCB under pressure. He attacked Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell after RCB’s loss to LSG.

Rayudu’s comments arrive after RCB failed to win their previous match of IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants. Even though RCB had a target of 182 at their home Chinnaswamy Stadium, their batters collapsed against LSG’s bowling attack. Getting bowled out for 153, RCB lost the IPL 2024 encounter by 28 runs.

Ambati Rayudu answers why RCB never won the IPL title

While speaking on Star Sports after the RCB vs LSG clash, Ambati Rayudu revealed a prominent reason why the Bengaluru franchise never won an IPL title. According to Rayudu, their bowling unit always leak a lot of runs.

“I feel their bowling always gives over-par runs and batting performs under par. No big-name batter is seen playing for RCB when they are under pressure. Such teams never win. This is why they have not won the IPL for so many years,” he said in response to a question as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Rayudu also reckoned international batters never play for RCB and this is the team’s story for the last 16 years. He pointed towards Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell, who have failed to showcase good form across 4 games in IPL 2024.

“Your big-name international players, who need to take the pressure, where were they? All of them were in the dressing room. This is not happening today. This has been this team’s story for the last 16 years,” the former right-handed batter said.

Ambati Rayudu, who was part of the winning CSK Team, also highlighted that big names in the RCB team never play under pressure and the young lower-order batters are given that role.

“All young players keep playing down the order and the big-name players go at the top and leave after eating the cream over the cake. If you see, who were the batters batting under pressure – your young Indian batters and Dinesh Karthik,” Rayudu further added.

RCB has won 3 games out of 4 and has moved to the 9th spot in the points table. They have 2 points. They won their lone game against Punjab Kings by 4 wickets. They will wrestle with Rajasthan Royals in their next match on Saturday, April 6 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
