Suryakumar Yadav has left the fans worried with a cryptic post ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While the right-handed batsman is on track to play in the tournament, there are doubts over his participation in the early phase of the tournament.
The Mumbai star has not played a competitive game since December last year. He last played in the T20I series against South Africa and had scored a stunning ton in that game. In that same game, he picked up an ankle injury before suffering a sports hernia. He had to undergo surgery for both the injuries. After the surgery for the ankle injury, he had to undergo surgery on his groin in Munich in January.
Due to the injuries, he missed the home T20I series against Afghanistan which was India’s last T20I assignment before the T20 World Cup in June. Suryakumar Yadav was trying to return to action in the DY Patil T20 Cup last month but failed to recover in time. And it looks like, he is set to spend some more time on the sidelines.
At present, he is at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and needs to get clearance from the BCCI medical staff to play in IPL 2024. And it looks like he has failed to get the green light from the medical team. According to reports, he was set to appear in a fitness test on Tuesday (March 19).
Later in the day, he took to Instagram to post a cryptic message as a story. He posted an emoji of broken heart and many believe that the star batsman has failed to get the clearance for the first phase of IPL 2024.

MI coach on Suryakumar Yadav:
On Monday (March 18), Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher delivered an update on Suryakumar Yadav, saying:
“Surya at the moment is on the guidance of the Indian cricket team as well. Just waiting for updates on that. I don’t like to micromanage. We’ve got a world class medical team that’s in control of all of that. Yes, the past, we have had a few fitness issues. We are always going to be in that sort of domain of having fitness issues as other teams are as well.
“Every time I look at my WhatsApp’s there’s reports of other teams also losing players. We trust our medical team that they’re doing the right things. Look, if we lose one or two from fitness perspective, it is what it is. That’s important and we just have to keep on the right track and sharp on replacements,” he added.
IPL 2024 is scheduled to begin on March 22 while Mumbai Indians will begin their campaign on March 24 against Gujarat Titans.
