Former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath reminisced about his first encounter with ace batter Virat Kohli during a first-class match. Subramaniam Badrinath expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli’s determination to excel and embrace challenges in cricket.

From a young age, Virat Kohli displayed immense potential, guiding India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup before becoming one of the greatest cricketers. The right-handed batter shattered numerous batting records throughout his illustrious international career.

The 35-year-old made his international debut in an ODI match against Sri Lanka in 2008. He scored a half-century in his fourth game and ended the series with 159 runs from five matches, averaging 31.80, marking the beginning of his exceptional international career.

Virat Kohli Loved The Challenges – Subramaniam Badrinath

In a video shared by Star Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter), S Badrinath highlighted Kohli’s determination and passion for challenges. He emphasized Kohli’s readiness to face any situation head-on, which became a defining trait throughout his career.

“The first time I met Virat Kohli was when Virat made his first-class debut against Tamil Nadu. I was leading Tamil Nadu. We were playing at Firoz Shah Kotla. From then on, I think he wanted to be the best that he can be. He wanted the challenges. He loved the challenges. But one thing that stood out about Virat is that he was always like,’mein jaake khelunga, yeh spell mein jaake khelunga’. I will do it,” Subramaniam Badrinath said.

Virat Kohli has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the first edition of the Indian Premier League. The Delhi-born batter failed to make an impact with the bat in the first two seasons, with batting averages of 15 and 22.36 in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

Virat Kohli To Represent Royal Challengers Bangalore In IPL 2024

The former Indian skipper last represented the national cricket team during a T20I match against Afghanistan earlier this year. Kohli withdrew from the ongoing five-match Test series against the England cricket team at home due to the birth of his second child.

Virat Kohli is expected to make his comeback by representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL 2024. He is the all-time leading run scorer in the IPL, having scored 7,263 runs in 237 matches at an average of 37, including seven centuries and 50 half-centuries.

Kohli achieved the record for the highest number of runs in a single season, amassing 973 runs at an average of 81.08 in 2016, the year RCB reached the final. Despite featuring in three final appearances in 2009, 2011, and 2016, he failed to win the tournament title.

The RCB team will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on March 22. The franchise will play their next three matches in Bengaluru before moving to Jaipur for their fifth match of the IPL 2024.
