Royal Challengers Bengaluru have dropped their pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj for the crucial game against Sunrisers Hyderabad as they desperately seek a win in order to stay in contention for a playoffs berth in IPL 2024.

The Bengaluru-based outfit is on the verge of bowing out of IPL 2024 at the league stage once again after managing to win just one of their first six games. They are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with just two points and need something extraordinary to turn things around.

One of the main reasons behind RCB's struggle this season is the poor performance of their bowlers. While a lot was expected from Mohammed Siraj, the India star has not really managed to live up to the expectations so far. In six games, he has picked up just four wickets while having an economy rate of 10.40.

Mohammed Siraj dropped from playing eleven:

In the first game of the season against Chennai Super Kings, Mohammed Siraj conceded 38 runs and went wicketless as RCB lost that game by six wickets. In the second game against Punjab Kings, he did well and picked up two wickets for 26 runs as RCB won the game to get off the mark in IPL 2024.

He has struggled to do well since then. In the third and fourth games, he conceded 46 and 47 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants respectively. In the fifth game against Rajasthan Royals, Mohammed Siraj picked up one wicket for 35 runs as RCB lost that game as well.

In the last game against Mumbai Indians, RCB failed to defend 196 runs as the five-time champions chased down the total inside 16 overs. Mohammed Siraj failed to make an impact in that game as well as he went wicketless for 37 runs in three overs.

And with his form showing little signs of improvement in recent matches, RCB decided to drop him from the playing eleven for the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday (April 15). While the decision from RCB is not very surprising, it has raised a number of eyebrows as not many were expecting such a big call from the team.

Here are some of the reactions to Mohammed Siraj being dropped:
