"Virat Kohli isn't the same person.."- Mitchell Starc on Indian batsman
Mitchell Starc is set to be back to play in the Indian Premier League and it will be his first appearance since 2015 when he last played in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He created the record of being the most expensive purchase in the history of the IPL as he was bought for 24.75 crores by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL auction. Mitchell Starc is one of the best fast bowlers in the world right now and was also a part of the World Cup-winning Australian team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Mitchell Starc played under the captaincy of Virat Kohli who is one of the modern-day greats. Virat Kohli was the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2013 to 2021. He left the leadership role for Faf du Plessis but he still captains the side in the absence of Du Plessis. Mitchell Starc will be playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season and it will be after nine years that he will be featuring in the IPL.
Recently, Mitchell Starc talked about Virat Kohli in a segment with Star Sports where he mentioned what a fierce competitor Virat Kohli is. He talked about Virat’s on-field and off-field personalities saying that Virat Kohli is a warm and humble person off the field whereas on the field he is a very fierce competitor who is always trying to do better.
” I do remember fondly the couple of years I had at RCB alongside Virat and he was captain as well. So that was the first time I got to know him properly, particularly off the field and how different he is as a person on and off the field. He is such a warm and humble character off the field but then he’s so fiercely competitive and wants to do so well when he is on the field so I remember that the most or the first time I literally got to know about him.” said Mitchell Starc.
