Virat Kohli Will Bat At No. 3 – Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that Virat Kohli could consider batting lower in the order, stating that this strategic adjustment will aid in his preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“A question could be whether Virat Kohli will open only or come down the order. Why am I saying that? When India’s team will be made for the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli will bat at No. 3. It might be in his mind that he is seeing that challenge going ahead, so he should prepare for that from today,” Chopra said.

“Is that a possibility? No one has said this but it is not out of context as well because you expect absolutely perfect preparation from Virat Kohli. So that could be a reason for him to play at No. 3 as he is going to play for India at No. 3. Quite a possibility,” he added.

Kohli showcased his prowess as an opener in IPL 2023, accumulating 639 runs in 14 innings at an average of 53.25 and a striking rate of 139.82. He formed solid partnerships with skipper Faf du Plessis, who ended the last season with 730 runs at a strike rate of 153.68.

Cameron Green – live up to the reputation – Aakash Chopra

The cricketer-turned-commentator emphasized the opportunities awaiting Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green in IPL 2024. Chopra encouraged Green to fulfill his potential and live up to his reputation in the tournament.

“Rajat Patidar – if you haven’t performed well in Tests, this is your chance. Cameron Green – live up to the reputation. If you play him 10 matches at No. 3 (if he doesn’t open), he will deliver. However, if you move him up and down the order, that could be an issue,” Chopra stated.

RCB acquired Cameron Green from MI for a staggering Rs 17.50 crore. The 24-year-old demonstrated prowess in his debut season. He amassed 452 runs in 16 games at a remarkable average of 50.22 and a strike rate of 160.28, including two fifties and a century.

The Bangalore-based franchise will kick off IPL 2024 with a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 22.
