Virat Kohli's childhood coach takes a dig at batter's critics after heroics vs PBKS

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma took to Instagram to laud the RCB opener for his magnificent knock against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024 match 6. Virat Kohli slammed a stunning 77-run knock vs Punjab Kings to drive Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to victory.

Kohli opened the innings for RCB with Faf du Plessis. While other top-order batters failed to go deep, Kohli shattered 11 fours and 2 sixes during his innings to bring the team home. The right-handed batter made a strong comeback in the RCB’s second game after getting out of 21 in the opening game vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Rajkumar Sharma hails Virat Kohli on Instagram and takes dig at his critics

After Virat Kohli’s marvelous knock against Punjab Kings, his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma shared an Instagram post to laud the batting legend. Sharma posted a photo of Kohli and wrote, “His bat does the talking”. Have a look at the post below.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also broke a few records in the T20 format with his half-century against Punjab Kings. Kohli equaled MS Dhoni’s record for most Player of the Match awards in IPL. Both players have 17 trophies to their name.

Also, Kohli became the first Indian player to reach 100 fifty-plus scores in T20 format. Overall, he is the third international cricket to reach the milestone. Kohli recently reached 12000 runs in T20 format in the IPL 2024 opener.

RCB crush Punjab Kings by 4 wickets

Talking about the PBKS vs RCB game, the latter won the match by 4 wickets in a thrilling encounter. Batting first, skipper Shikhar Dhawan led Punjab Kings to 176-6 in 1st innings with his 45-run knock.

One-down batter Prabhsimran Singh also added 25 runs. Later, Sam Curran scored 23 while Jitesh Sharma hit 27 to keep the scoreboard running. Towards the end, Shashank Sigh stormed a quick 21 runs off 8 balls to take PBKS to a respectable total.

Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell picked 2 wickets each for RCB. Yash Dayal picked 1 wicket and conceded 23 runs in his 4-over spell. During the chase, Virat Kohli led from the front with his 77 runs off 49 deliveries.

As RCB lost Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green cheaply for 3 runs, Kohli held his wicket on one end. Middle-order batters Rajat Patidar (18) and Glenn Maxwell (3) also failed with the bat.

Dinesh Karthik played a fabulous knock in the death overs

Towards the end, RCB needed some 47-odd runs in the final four overs. Dinesh Karthik led the way to follow up Virat Kohli’s fabulous start. With his 28 runs off 10 balls, Karthik drove the team to victory in the final over by 4 wickets. Mahipal Lomror also made an important contribution with his 8-ball-17.

RCB will now take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the match 10 of IPL 2024. The clash takes place on Friday, March 29 at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB has 1 win and 1 defeat across 2 games.
