Young England all-rounder Sam Curran disclosed the names of three batters he desires to dismiss for his dream T20 hat-trick in professional cricket. Notably, Sam Curran omitted renowned batters like Virat Kohli, Heinrich Klaasen, Shubman Gill, and David Warner from his checklist.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured Sam Curran for a record-breaking Rs 18.5 crore during the 2023 auction, making him the costliest buy in the tournament's history for a single season. Curran struggled to justify his hefty price tag during his stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Curran participated in 14 matches for the PBKS in the IPL 2023. He scored 276 runs at an average of 27.60 and a strike rate of 135.96. He scored one half-century, with the highest score of 55. He also struggled with the ball, managing only 10 wickets at an economy rate of 10.22.

The southpaw experienced a notable decline in IPL 2024 compared to his previous season's performance. He scored 91 runs at an average of 22.75, with a strike rate exceeding 120. In terms of bowling, the 25-year-old secured four wickets at an average of 21.50 and an economy rate of 8.60.

He Is Not Like A Lot Of People - Preity Zinta

PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta praised Shashank Singh for his exceptional batting display against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Zinta, sharing a selfie with Singh, addressed past remarks made during the auction, commending Singh's positive attitude and determination in facing challenges.

"Today seems like the perfect day to finally talk about things that were said in the past about us at the auction. A lot of people in similar situations would have lost confidence, buckled under pressure or become de-motivated ……. but not Shashank !"

"He is not like a lot of people. He is truly special. Not just because of his skill as a player but because of his positive attitude & incredible spirit. He took all the comments, jokes and brick bats so sportingly & never became a victim," a part of her caption read.

"I hope he can be an example to all of you when life takes a different turn & does not play according to script, for it’s not what people think of you that matters, but what You think of Yourself ! So never stop believing in yourself like Shashank & I’m sure you will be Man of the match in the game of life"

During the IPL 2024 auction, the Punjab Kings aimed to acquire a player named Shashank Singh, but inadvertently secured the current player with the same name. Despite requesting a change, the team's efforts were unsuccessful during the auction process.

PBKS later clarified the confusion surrounding Shashank Singh's signing. Despite facing jokes and negative comments, Shashank remained focused on his job and delivered a stellar performance, earning the Man of the Match award against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

The Punjab franchise occupies the sixth position in the IPL 2024 points table, having won two out of four matches this season. Next, PBKS will host Pat Cummins' SunRisers Hyderabad at the MYS Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, on Tuesday, April 9.
