It did not take Matthew Wade long to make an impact in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman did not get a chance in Gujarat Titans' playing eleven for the first five games of the season before being included in the team for the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium.
With GT losing their last two games, they made a couple of changes to the playing eleven for the ongoing game. While Matthew Wade replaced Kane Williamson in the team, BR Sharath made way for Abhinav Manohar. And it took Matthew Wade less than five overs to make his presence felt in the game.
The Australia star pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fifth over. Jaiswal hit Umesh Yadav for a four on the first ball of the over before being dismissed on the second. It was a length ball around off and Jaiswal shuffled across before getting down on one knee in order to scoop the ball over the wicketkeeper's head.
While he could not make a good connection with the ball, it was still decent. At first, it looked like the ball would easily sail over Matthew Wade's head. However, the GT wicketkeeper made a timely leap and caught the ball with both hands while being airborne.

Jaiswal departed after scoring 24 runs off 19 balls with the help of five overs. The latest outing has further extended Jaiswal's poor run in the ongoing IPL 2024. After scoring a staggering 712 runs in the five-match Test series against England, Jaiswal opened his campaign in IPL with a 24-run knock against Lucknow Super Giants.
It was followed by knocks of 5, 10, and 0 before his latest failure to score big. Talking about the game, RR were on 43 for 2 at the end of the powerplay at the time of writing this report.
