An alert Sam Curran helped Punjab Kings get rid of Rahul Tripathi in the ongoing game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
The incident took place in the tenth over when Harshal Patel was bowling to the right-handed batsman. On the fourth ball of the over, the right-arm pacer bowled his trademark slower delivery, It was a short ball and Rahul Tripathi decided to play a ramp shot over the wicketkeeper's head.
However, he failed to make good contact with the ball and the ball went on behind the stumps where wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma caught it with ease. In the meantime, Sam Curran as well as Harshal Patel appealed for a caught behind but the umpire gave his decision in the favour of the batter.
However, the wicketkeeper was not confident although both Sam Curran as well as the bowler were confident that they had heard something. In the end, PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan showed confidence in Sam Curran and Harshal and decided to review the decision.
The replays showed that Rahul Tripathi had ended edged the ball and PBKS got a crucial breakthrough out of nowhere. Tripathi, who came on as an Impact player, departed after scoring only 11 runs from 14 balls.

Talking about the game, PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl first. SRH made a poor start with the bat and were reeling at 39 for 3 inside the powerplay. It was followed by a 25-run stand between Tripathi and Nitish Reddy before the former departed.
Heinrich Klaasen could not do much with the bat either and was out for run-a-ball 9 to leave his team reeling at 100 for 5 in the 14th over. At the time of writing this report, SRH were on 146 for 5 after 16 overs with Reddy batting on 64 from 36 balls.
