Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Sam Curran didn’t have the kind of outing he would’ve wanted with the bat in the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The 6th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Sam Curran, who struck a match-winning fifty in the last game, couldn’t produce a similar effort in the ongoing game. The all-rounder looked in decent touch and was all set for a big finish in the match. But his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Anuj Rawat behind the stumps.

Anuj Rawat behind the stumps showcased why he has been preferred as a keeper over Dinesh Karthik in the game. The young batter produced a sensational catch to remove the dangerous-looking Sam Curran at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

During the last ball of the 18th over, Yash Dayal bowled a well-directed bouncer. Sam Curran was hurried by the pace of the delivery, which was bowled a 141.7 kph delivery. The batter tried to hook it away but managed just a glove on it and the ball went towards the keeper.

Anuj Rawat timed his jump to perfection and gobbled the catch with his right hand. It was a magnificent effort from him behind the stumps because it seemed that the ball would be racing away for the boundary.

Here’s the video:

Sam Curran scored 23 runs off 17 balls and batted with a strike rate of over 135. He slammed three fours in his innings and made sure that Punjab got some crucial runs under his belt. Had Anuj Rawat not taken the spectacular catch, the all-rounder surely would’ve finished the innings on high.

After he got out, Shashank Singh played a brutal cameo that turned the momentum in Punjab’s favour. The right-hander scored 21 runs off just 8 balls and also slammed one four and 2 sixes in his innings. His vital innings powered Punjab Kings to a total of 176/6.

We are going out there with a plan and make 176 enough – Sam Curran

Sam Curran opened up about the batting of Punjab Kings in the game. He said that the score is under par but mentioned that batting isn’t easy. He issued a warning to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, stating that they will come up with pla an and win. He stated:

“It is probably slightly under par. But it (the surface) is not a belter, good finish by the boys and a few early wickets can get us back. They bowled really well with the new ball and there was some help for the spinners. We are going out there with a plan and make 176 enough.”

Sam Curran will now have to play a crucial role for his team with the ball. If he has to fancy their chances of winning the game, the all-rounder needs to step up with the ball and help his team. He will e vital for his team in the death over.
